As a person who has volunteered in many aspects of social need and policies, I hope to bring my knowledge base to Adullam and be a good addition to their board. Being on the Red Cross Disaster Action Team and deploying nationally as well as locally, as a casework consultant and the Red Cross representative to the FEMA Emergency Food and Shelter Program, has given me much insight into what is going on in the city and the many emergency and social offering in the Milwaukee area. Having opened and operated two central-city soup kitchens for the past 9 years has also grounded me in the multiple needs of our community. I have tutored literacy at Auer Avenue School for two years, have worked with Habitat in the field building homes, and opened and managed my own consignment shoppe for eight years. While living in New York, I volunteered at Covenant House with youth and at the Jennie A. Clarke Family Shelter in Harlem, which only validated to me that the problems we face in Milwaukee are universal. It is with great joy that I am now part of the Adullam family.
